What comes back when you sign in again?
Everything that belongs to your account and your family spaces. That means your lists, appointments, tasks, receipts and people. Your settings for reminders, the language, moj Plus and the link to WhatsApp come back as well.
All of it is stored on our server, not on the phone. The database is in Frankfurt.
Sign in with the same email address as before. A different address creates a new, empty account. How signing in works is explained on Signing in and the code.
What do you need to set up again?
- The widgets. A widget belongs to the phone it is on. Add it again on the new phone.
- The family space moj shows first. If you are in several, you choose it again.
- Notifications. The new phone asks once more whether moj may send notifications. After that moj schedules the reminders by itself.
What can get lost?
Changes you made offline that had not been sent yet. So before you switch, open moj once with a connection. That way everything gets transferred.
What if the old phone is gone?
Then sign it out from the new phone. In moj’s settings there, tap “Sign out on other devices”. This phone stays signed in. All the others show the sign-in afterwards, and their widgets and notifications stop.
What about WhatsApp?
If you keep the same number, you do not have to do anything. The link belongs to your account, not to the phone.
If you have a new number, write to us. You cannot remove the old link yourself yet. Once we have removed it, link the new one as described on Connecting WhatsApp.
What about a child’s phone?
A child needs a new code from you on the new phone. In moj, open their page under “Family” and tap “Set up a phone”. The child uses the code to sign in to the same account, and everything is back.
If the child’s old phone is gone, tap “Sign out the phone” on the same page. It then shows the sign-in, and the child stays in the family.
What happens when you delete moj from your phone?
moj is then gone from this phone. Your account and your entries remain. Nobody else in the family notices anything.
On an iPhone your sign-in can stay all the same. If you install moj again, you are then still signed in. iOS has kept such sign-ins so far. Apple has not promised that it will. Checked with Apple on 20 October 2026.
If you pass the phone on, sign out first. You do that at the very bottom of the settings in moj. After that, moj asks for an email address and a code again on this phone.
If you want to delete your account completely, you can do that in moj under “Delete account”. moj removes the address and the name on your account at once. A space without another adult in it ends with you. Helpers and children’s phones lose it as well. Anything you sent to a shared space stays there.
For 30 days you can bring it all back. Sign in with the same address and tap “Bring my account back”. After that your account and those spaces are deleted for good.
Deleting is not cancelling. Neither deleting the app nor deleting the account ends moj Plus. You cancel a subscription in the App Store. How to do that is explained on moj Plus.
