Two family spaces

If you help out in two families, one account gets you into both spaces. The spaces can’t see into each other. WhatsApp always goes to one of them.

When are you in two family spaces?

You are in two when two families have invited you. A babysitter might help out in two families, or a grandmother might have her own space as well as her daughter’s. One account gets you into both.

That doesn’t apply to a child’s phone. It belongs to exactly one family space.

The spaces can’t see into each other. Each has its own calendar, lists and people. If Grandma Ilse is in both, she appears as two separate people.

How do you switch spaces?

On “Today”, the name of the space you are in shows at the top left. Tap it to open “Choose a family space”. You can also switch in Settings, under “Family spaces”.

Only “Today” shows the space’s name. Calendar, Lists, Receipts and Family always show the space you chose there.

Which space do WhatsApp messages go to?

They go to exactly one. Settings shows which one under “WhatsApp”: “Your messages land in …”.

To change it, first switch to the other space. Then tap “From now on in …” with its name on the WhatsApp page. That applies from your next message. In the meantime, use the inbox in the app for the other space.

moj’s reply to a message then starts with the space’s name. That way you see straight away where it went.

What if something ends up in the wrong space?

Straight afterwards, write “undo”. That works as long as your number still writes into that space. Once you have switched, “undo” takes back your last message from today in the new space.

Later on, open the entry in the wrong space and choose the right one under “Family space”. Appointments in a series, appointments from a subscribed calendar, receipts with a photo, goals and entries on a checklist stay in their space, though. By then the other family will already have had the notifications.

Where do the reminders come from?

They come from both spaces, each starting with the space’s name.

Your reminder settings apply to all spaces together. If two of your appointments overlap, moj tells you when you add one and again in the daily overview.

What doesn’t work with two spaces?

No view across both spaces. You see the calendar one space at a time. Your phone only puts your own appointments side by side.

No quieter reminders for one space. To silence a single appointment, set its reminder to “Off” in the appointment itself.

One subscription per space. moj Plus applies to the space it was bought in. There is more on this under moj Plus.
